The Goshinkan-Ryu Jujitsu Sport Development Program is designed to support young athletes in the combative arts and is included in the registration fee’s for all members of Little Samurai, Junior Shogun and Teen Programs. Senpai Adam House is the head coach for the sport programs for all Goshinka-Ryu Jujitsu. Japanese Jujitsu is not a sport – it is an incredibly effective system of self-defense. However, many of today’s top combat sports have stemmed from Japanese Jujitsu – notably Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Members of our dojo’s compete across Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan in both Gi and Nogi Grappling competitions. As these competitions are built around a system of rules to protect the participants we felt it was important to have a separate program to help teach the “sport side” of the art. Our members are only required to take the sport program if they have chosen to take part in these competitions. At the Red Deer Dojo; Calgary Dojo we host competitions every four months and support other clubs across Western Canada.
